Odessa School Insulation
ABC recognized EISI with an Excellence in Construction Award for plumbing, mechanical and HVAC duct insulation at Odessa Elementary.
2012 ABC Excellence in Construction Award
The Project: EISI was responsible for all plumbing, mechanical and hvac duct insulation associated with the project. This included the installation of PTM Manufacturing’s patented Techna-Duc® insulation system on all exposed rooftop duct work.
The Scope: Odessa Elementary was a fast paced, high profile project which required many trades to be coordinated and work safely at the same time.
The Catch: Building area co-occupancy provided daily challenges. Throughout the project EISI helped to maintain the focus on the ultimate project goal; being open in time for the upcoming school year.
We participated in daily safety plans, weekly toolbox talks, frequent safety audits and an overall coordination plan to minimize manpower conflicts. This innovative approach helped reduce congested work areas and therefore facilitated higher productivity, reduced quality issues, as well as a higher level of safety.
Safety Steps: EISI made use of our in house Safety Task Assessments on a daily basis. Safety audits using our trade focused audit system were conducted at a weekly minimum. Extensive cross trade communication was conducted to make sure all building trades were moving in the same direction minimizing co-occupancy issues.
The Result: EISI assisted the project team by addressing technical insulation concerns and helped to provide innovative solutions to potential problems. In doing so, EISI was able to help reduce project insulation costs while delivering a high quality installed product.
Working closely as a subcontractor to Worth and Company, Inc., EISI was able to complete the mechanical insulation on budget, ahead of schedule and therefore contributed to the brand new elementary school being completed on time.
Most importantly, EISI completed all work safely; experiencing no injuries, incidents or work related illnesses during the course of the project.
